چکیده

Injuries and fatalities for vulnerable road users, especially bicyclists pedestrians, are on the rise. To better inform design we need to evaluate how bicyclist pedestrian behavior physiological states change in different roadway contextual settings. Previous research highlights advantages of using immersive virtual environments (IVEs) conducting studies. These do not put participants at risk injury, low cost compared on-road or naturalistic studies, allow researchers fully control variables interest. In this paper, propose a framework, Omni-Reality Cognition Lab Simulator (ORCLSim), support human sensing techniques within IVEs behavioral changes showcase present two case where pilot data from five participants’ responses an IVE setting collected analyzed, representing real-world segments traffic conditions. Results these studies indicate that sensitive environment real-time events IVE, heart rate gaze behavior. addition, our preliminary may respond differently various settings (e.g., signalized vs. unsignalized intersections). By analyzing changes, future can identify stress level cognitive load impacted by surrounding environment. The ORCLSim system architecture is prototype be customized understanding users’ reality

Infrared Tracking System for Immersive Virtual Environments

In this paper, we describe the theoretical foundations and engineering approach of an infrared-optical tracking system specially design for large scale immersive virtual environments (VE) or augmented reality (AR) settings. The system described is capable of tracking independent retro-reflective markers arranged in a 3D structure (artefact) in real time (25Hz), recovering all possible 6 Degrees...

Untethered Interaction for Immersive Virtual Environments through Handheld Devices

This paper presents the results and the current status of our research project focusing on the design and implementation of interfaces for interaction with Immersive Virtual Environments through handheld devices. The use of this kind of devices, combined with wireless networking, improves the usability of standard VR. This could be particularly useful in application fields (i.e. Virtual Heritag...

Accurate Infrared Tracking System for Immersive Virtual Environments

In large-scale immersive virtual reality (VR) environments, such as a CAVE, one of the most common problems is tracking the position of the user’s head while he or she is immersed in this environment to reflect perspective changes in the synthetic stereoscopic images. In this paper, the authors describe the theoretical foundations and engineering approach adopted in the development of an infrar...

Using Immersive Virtual Environments for Certification

the last few years immersive virtual environment technology has matured to the point where industry researchers have begun using it for the design and evaluation of new systems. Immersive virtual environments have already been applied to a wide variety of domains , including automobile design, flight simulation, emergency rescue, and remote surgical training. As VEs move from research laborator...

Interfaces for Cloning in Immersive Virtual Environments

Three-dimensional objects in many applications domains, such as architecture and construction, can be extremely complex and can consist of a large number of components. However, many of these complex objects also contain a great deal of repetition. Therefore, cloning techniques, which generate multiple spatially distributed copies of an object to form a repeated pattern, can be used to model th...
